Description

Pasticcio di Maccheroni Ferrarese is a traditional Italian baked pasta dish from Ferrara, rich in flavor and perfect for family gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 400g maccheroni pasta
  • 300g ground beef
  • 200g pork sausage
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 400g tomato sauce
  • 100g grated Parmesan cheese
  • 50g butter
  • 50g flour
  • 500ml milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Nutmeg to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the maccheroni pasta al dente, drain, and set aside.
  2. In a pan, sauté onion and garlic until soft.
  3. Add ground beef and pork sausage, cooking until browned.
  4. Stir in tomato sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. In a separate pan, melt butter, add flour, and cook for 2 minutes.
  6. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth, then add nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
  7. Combine pasta with meat sauce and half the béchamel.
  8. Layer the mixture in a baking dish, top with remaining béchamel and Parmesan.
  9. Bake at 180°C for 30 minutes until golden.
