Description
A refreshing Italian lemon liqueur made with lemon zest, alcohol, sugar, and water.
Ingredients
Scale
- 10 organic lemons
- 1 liter of vodka or grain alcohol (95% proof)
- 700 g white sugar
- 1 liter water
Instructions
- Wash and peel lemons, avoiding the bitter white pith.
- Place lemon peels in a large jar and cover with alcohol.
- Seal the jar and let it steep for 7-10 days in a cool, dark place.
- After steeping, strain the liquid to remove the peels.
- In a saucepan, dissolve sugar in water over low heat, then let it cool.
- Mix the sugar syrup with the lemon-infused alcohol.
- Bottle the limoncello and refrigerate for at least a week before serving.
Notes
- Use organic lemons to avoid pesticides.
- Store in the freezer for a chilled serving.
- Best enjoyed after 2-4 weeks of aging.
