- 1 kg fresh mussels, cleaned and debearded
- 100 g breadcrumbs
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 lemon, cut into wedges
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Steam mussels in a large pot with a splash of water until they open, about 5-7 minutes. Discard any unopened mussels.
- Remove mussels from shells, keeping half of each shell for serving.
- In a bowl, mix breadcrumbs, garlic, parsley, Parmesan, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
- Drizzle olive oil over the breadcrumb mixture and stir until well combined.
- Place mussels back on their half shells and top with the breadcrumb mixture.
- Arrange mussels on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
- Serve with lemon wedges.
Notes
- Use fresh mussels for the best flavor and texture.
- Discard any mussels that do not open after cooking.
- Adjust red pepper flakes to your spice preference.
