Description

Chiacchiere leggere are light and crispy Italian pastries, traditionally enjoyed during Carnival. They are dusted with powdered sugar for a sweet finish.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon white wine or grappa
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl.
  2. Add butter, eggs, and wine. Knead into a smooth dough.
  3. Roll dough thinly and cut into strips or rectangles.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and fry until golden.
  5. Drain on paper towels and dust with powdered sugar.

  • Fry in small batches to avoid overcrowding.
