Description
Chiacchiere fritte are traditional Italian carnival pastries, crispy and light, dusted with powdered sugar. They are easy to make and perfect for festive occasions.
Ingredients

- 250g all-purpose flour
- 30g butter, softened
- 2 eggs
- 30g sugar
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon grappa or white wine (optional)
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add eggs, softened butter, vanilla extract, and grappa (if using). Knead into a smooth dough.
- Roll the dough thinly on a floured surface.
- Cut into strips or rectangles, about 10 cm long and 3 cm wide.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 170°C (340°F). Fry the dough pieces until golden, about 1-2 minutes per side.
- Drain on paper towels and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- For extra crunch, roll the dough very thin.
- Adjust sugar quantity to taste.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
