- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 cups buttercream frosting
- Food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
- Alternately add flour mixture and milk, starting and ending with flour. Mix in vanilla.
- Divide batter evenly between pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cakes cool completely before frosting.
- Prepare buttercream frosting. Tint with food coloring if desired.
- Frost cake with a thin crumb coat, then chill for 15 minutes.
- Pipe roses on the cake using a petal tip.
- Serve and enjoy.

- Use gel food coloring for vibrant colors.
- Chill the cake before piping roses for better results.
- Practice piping roses on parchment paper first.
